Major League Baseball 2K12 Cover Athlete Annouced

MLB 2K12

Okay, so the World Series just ended and a new champion has been crowned.  Thought you had until next Spring Training to start thinking about baseball again?  Well sorry, think again!  We’ve got the first new trailer for MLB 2K12 featuring this year’s cover athlete, Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers.  Give it a look:

Obviously, the principles involved all had something to say on the subject, starting with Verlander himself:

“It’s a dream come true to be on the cover of  Major League Baseball 2K12.  I’ve worked closely with 2K Sports on the  MLB 2K series since 2007, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue my relationship with such a great baseball game.”

Added 2K’s VP of Marketing, Jason Argent:

“Justin’s amazing performance this season speaks for itself.  Between his second career no-hitter and leading the league in virtually every pitching category, I can’t think of anyone else but Justin Verlander to serve as the face of  Major League Baseball 2K12.”

While still playing second fiddle to SONY’s MLB: The Show franchise, the 2K series of baseball games has shown some vast improvements over the last couple of years.  We’re looking forward to seeing if that trend continues this year.
