Madden NFL 12 Simulates Super Bowl XLVI (And I am Very Happy)

"Dream Team," huh?

With the Super Bowl coming this Sunday night between my New York Giants and the New England Patriots, you can expect every so called “expert” to go on the record with a prediction of who’s going to win the big game.  Not to be outdone is the team over at EA Sports, whom have correctly predicted the Super Bowl winner far more often than not with the official Madden simulation.  Since 2004, the official Madden sim has only been wrong twice (Super Bowls 42 & 45), giving the team at EA a solid 6-2 record.  This year, the hot CPU on CPU action favors my G-Men to come out on top in a squeaker thanks to a last second FG by Lawrence Tynes.

But let’s be clear here about something here, EA Sports – Eli Manning never headbutted anyone in celebration. Not even drunk out of his mind at a college party. The guy barely registers the difference between a game winning TD pass and bad INT.  So let’s get some realistically bland Eli celebrations into the game for next year if we could please.

Go Giants.

For those looking to compare notes, here’s how the official Madden simulation has fared in the past versus reality:

  • 2004 (Super Bowl XXXVIII) -  Patriots 23, Panthers 20 (Actual Score: Patriots 32, Panthers 29)
  • 2005 (Super Bowl XXXIX) - Patriots 47, Eagles 31 (Actual score: Patriots 24, Eagles 21)
  • 2006 (Super Bowl XL) – Steelers 24, Seahawks 19 (Actual score: Steelers 21, Seahawks 10)
  • 2007 (Super Bowl XLI) – Colts 38, Bears 27 (Actual score: Colts 29, Bears 17)
  • 2008 (Super Bowl XLII) – Patriots 38, Giants 30 (Actual score: Giants 17, Patriots 14)
  • 2009 (Super Bowl XLIII) – Steelers 28, Cardinals 24 (Actual score: Steelers 27, Cardinals 23)
  • 2010 (Super Bowl XLIV) – Saints 35, Colts 31 (Actual score: Saints 31, Colts 17)
  • 2011 (Super Bowl XLV) – Steelers 24, Packers 20 (Actual score: Packers 31, Steelers 25)
