EA has revealed via press release today that their digital distribution service, Origin, has accumulated 9.3 million users since its launch.
While Valve’s Steam boasts 40 million users, it is somewhat impressive that the “totally not just trying to get some of that sweet, sweet Steam ca$h copycat” Origin service managed to get a quarter of the user base in about a year.
I guess essentially forcing customers to use your service to play your triple-A PC titles is a very attractive strategy.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to register the domain names of what I will guess to be Activision’s all but inevitable digital distribution service.
